Are you having blind spots?

First, let us understand what is blind spot? Collins definition explained that blind spot is an area in our range of vision that we cannot see properly but which we really should be able to see.

If I asked you question..do you have any blind spot? And if your answer is No, now you know where is your blind spot. Our blind spots are the areas where we don’t know what we don’t know. Most of the time, we are not aware of our blind spot but it always be visible to others.

Our next question…why knowing our blind spot is really important? The reality that our personal blind spot could have an effect on our lives and it possibly negative effects. What more could happened if leaders have blind spots? Bill O’Brien, the CEO of Hanover Insurance stated that what counts is not only what leaders do and how they do it, but also their”interior condition”-that is the inner source. Our blind spots are the inner space from where we operate. Many leaders know what they do (results) and how to do things (process), but they fail to understand “who” does, the inner place or source from which we operate. Things and situations failed because we are not able to see our blind spots as the source of those failures.

Two importants types of blind spots that most leaders have:

1. Ego- It said that pride is the greatest enemy of leaders. Pride is something that the Lord is not pleased. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). Why pride is something that detestable to God? Pride is a state of mind or a condition of the heart which think that we can rule our own will, even controlling the will of others. Leaders who have ego will thinks that they always right. The way for us to deal with ego, by having a gratitude. Having gratitude in our lives will lead in humility.

2. Not feeling secure – insecurity is something hard to recognize within ourselves. It is even difficult to overcome, because we sometimes don’t want to admit that we are feeling insecure. However, when we feel difficult to praise others for their success or even feel threaten if we see somebody grow. We are having insecure feeling and we will try to block others to grow and become better than us. Let’s find our security in the Lord and be assured that He who created us will held everything under His control.

Proverb 3:26-27 – For the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.
